How do I search the Wall of Honor for my relative?
The Wall of Honor search will return only those records containing an exact match with the text you provide. Start by submitting a search using Last Name only. (You must include a Last Name.) Refine your results by adding a First Name. (Other Part of Name can be used to locate entries which may include Maiden Name or Middle Name. Note: This field is under development and is not currently available.)
If my ancestor's name is on the Wall, does that mean they came through Ellis Island?
While many names on the Wall of Honor represent immigrant arrivals through Ellis Island, this is not a requirement. Individual or family names can be placed in tribute on the Wall regardless of when the immigrant arrived or through which port they entered. The Wall celebrates the ethnic diversity of America across the generations— a country which remains "A Nation of Immigrants."
Are Ellis Island arrivals included in these search results?
These search results show names inscribed on The American Immigrant Wall of Honor only. To search the historical passenger lists in the Ellis Island Archives of more than 51 million immigrants, passengers, and crew members who came through Ellis Island and the Port of New York from 1892 to 1957, please visit Passenger Search.
