The Statue Of Liberty-Ellis Island Award

In 2019, the Foundation introduced The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Award. The inaugural award was presented at the opening of the Statue of Liberty Museum with recipient Oprah Winfrey recognized for her contributions and awareness-building in the areas of education and leadership, especially among young women the world-over.

The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Award reimagines and expands upon the legacy of the Foundation’s Family Heritage Awards, which celebrated the life and heritage of citizens who made major contributions to the American experience. In addition to continuing this tradition, the award recognizes significant achievements in the global struggle for liberty and freedom.
