The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation is launching a new service just for you. We are all in search of positive experiences to brighten our days during these uncertain times. Genealogy is one of the world’s most popular hobbies. The process of discovery is exciting, emotional and oftentimes surprising. It’s a wonderful experience for families to share!
Introducing Dedicated Passenger Search Sessions!
With a $30 donation to The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, you can have the Ellis Island research experience from the comfort of your own home. Our dedicated team will uncover your family’s connection to Ellis Island. This team consists of the same research staff that you would normally meet in our American Family Immigration History Center on Ellis Island. Your donation secures a 30-minute research session conducted by the team, with the funds supporting the Foundation’s mission and our commitment to keeping these 65 million records available for people all over the globe.
Successful searches will result in the Foundation sending you a FREE digital copy of the Ship Manifest displaying your ancestor’s arrival in America! In addition, when the Foundation’s office reopens, we will put a hard copy, on archival paper, in the mail and send it to you with FREE SHIPPING!
If our associates are unable to find your records, you will receive a special 10% off promo code for any item* in our shop.
How it works
Sample Passenger Form:
Each research session will be 30 minutes in length. During this time, the research team will search our vast records for your ancestor. Please allow up to 10 business days to receive your search results. You may purchase more than one session. We can only search for one passenger per session. If you are interested in searching for multiple passengers, you can reserve additional sessions. Research sessions occur without live participation from donor. The research team will reach out to you if they have any additional questions.
The Ellis Island Database, which is free for all, is an amazing gateway to history. There are close to 65 million records documenting the people who came to America through the Port of New York, from 1820 to 1957! Opportunities for exploration are endless.
In the coming weeks, The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation will unveil a series of videos on social media that will guide you along a genealogical journey, providing research tips and historical fun facts from our staff.
You can find us by searching our handle @StatueEllisFdn on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Our database is always free for you to use. During this time, please help us keep these records free to the public by making a donation on our website.
Stay tuned, and happy searching! Let’s make some memories.
