American Immigrant Wall Of Honor Expands

June 1st, 2006

4,200 New Names Unveiled

Over 4,200 new names have just been added to The American Immigrant Wall of Honor® at Ellis Island. Inscribed for posterity by Americans honoring their ancestors from Italy, Russia, Germany and other lands, the newly added names were registered between March 2005 and January 2006.

The largest wall of names in the world, The American Immigrant Wall of Honor features the names of over 600,000 individuals and families who have been honored by their descendants. The Wall celebrates American immigration from colonial times right up to the present and features the ancestors of Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Barry Manilow, Cicely Tyson, Tommy Lasorda, Mary Higgins Clark and so many more.

Family members and friends from across the country can view the names on the "Virtual Wall" at Commemorative certificates of registration and panel reproductions are also available on the website.

Registration for the new edition of The American Immigrant Wall of Honor will close December 31, 2007. A name can be placed on the Wall with a $100 tax-deductible contribution. Gift certificates to let loved ones place a name of their choice on the Wall of Honor are also available. All new submissions will be engraved on the Wall in Spring 2008. Funds raised will be used to support the important work of The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc.
